Ask the Jeweler: What Does a Diamond Tester Really Tell You?

Traditional thermal-conductivity testers were primarily designed to separate diamond from materials such as cubic zirconia. Moissanite transfers heat in a way that can cause some conventional handheld testers to register it as diamond. That result does not turn moissanite into a diamond; moissanite remains a separate gemstone with its own composition and visual character.

Laboratory-grown and natural diamonds are both diamonds. Both are crystallized carbon and generally register as diamond. Advanced gemological screening can distinguish moissanite and can identify laboratory-grown versus natural origin. A handheld reading is useful information, but it is not a substitute for certification or advanced gemological analysis.

Our Standards

TAJ Jewelry House sources certified natural and laboratory-grown diamonds, documented moissanite and precious metals acquired through established refinery and jewelry-manufacturing channels. Because different stones and materials may be documented by different qualified organizations, the applicable certification or sourcing record varies by product. What remains consistent is our commitment to clear identification and informed choice.

Applicable certification and sourcing documentation vary by stone, material and product. We do not promise that an individual grading report accompanies every purchase unless the applicable product record expressly confirms it.

Choose What Matters to You

Choose moissanite for exceptional fire, durability and visual impact at the most accessible price point. Choose a laboratory-grown diamond when diamond composition and greater size or quality accessibility lead your decision. Choose a natural diamond when Earth-formed origin, rarity and traditional significance matter most. Each is a legitimate choice when it is identified honestly.
